U23 Vietnam show heartfelt gesture to injured teammate after 3-0 win over Laos
VOV.VN - After their 3-0 opening win over Laos at the 2025 ASEAN U23 Championship, U23 Vietnam have delivered a touching gesture for injured teammate Thanh Nhan, a quiet but powerful display of team spirit and solidarity.

U23 Vietnam claimed a 3-0 win over U23 Laos in their Group B opener at the 2025 ASEAN U23 Championship on July 19 at Patriot Stadium in Bekasi, Indonesia, thanks to standout performances from Khuat Van Khang and Hieu Minh, who netted a brace.
The result gives head coach Kim Sang Sik’s men a clear path to the semifinals.
Speaking to the media after the match, coach Kim Sang Sik said “I’m very happy with the 3-0 win in our first game. On behalf of the entire team, I want to thank all the Vietnamese fans who came to Patriot Stadium, as well as those watching from home.”
Assessing the game, the Korean coach noted, “U23 Laos set up with a tight defensive line from the opening minutes. However, my players worked hard to create chances and eventually broke the deadlock. The key was that we maintained balance between attack and defence, controlled the game well, and preserved our advantage.”
During the match, the Vietnamese players also made a heartfelt gesture by honoring teammate Thanh Nhan, who suffered an injury just before the tournament. On social media, Dinh Bac sent his best wishes to Thanh Nhan for a speedy recovery.
Following Thanh Nhan’s injury, coach Kim Sang Sik called up Van Thuan from Thanh Hoa as a replacement. Van Thuan was named the “Best Young Player” of the 2024–2025 V-League season.
According to the schedule, U23 Vietnam will face U23 Cambodia in their second Group B fixture at 8 p.m. on July 22. A draw would be enough to see them through to the semifinals.
