Vietnam rank fourth at Asian Jujitsu Championship 2023

VOV.VN - Vietnamese jujitsu fighters were placed fourth in the medal tally at the Asian Jujitsu Championship 2023 which concluded in Thailand on March 1.

The haul of five gold medals went to Que Hoang in the women's 70kg contact, Phung Thi Hue in the women's 45kg contact, Duong Thi Thanh Minh in the women's 52kg contact, Phung Thi Hue in the women's 45kg fighting, and Le Duy Thanh Phung in the men's 94kg fighting category.

As hosts Thailand topped the medal tally with 16 gold, 11 silver, and 16 bronze medals. They were followed by Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Most notably, Vietnamese jujitsu fighters exceeded their goal of achieving three gold medals at the tournament. Previously, at the 2022 championship in Bahrain, the Vietnamese team finished fifth with five golds, three silvers, and eight bronzes.

This year the tournament began on February 23, attracting the participation of many strong athletes from 23 countries and territories throughout the Asian region.

The 35-strong Vietnamese team featured world beach cup champions and 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games winners Phung Thi Hue, Dao Hong Son, and Hoang Thi Nhat Que.

The event is expected to help them gain more experience ahead of SEA Games 32 which will be held in Cambodia this May.
