Vietnam raises the flag for ASIAD 2018
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese delegation officially got the country’s ASIAD 2018 campaign underway following a flag raising ceremony held at the athletes’ village in Jakarta, Indonesia on August 16.
The ceremony saw the presence of leaders of the Vietnamese delegation and several athletes, representing some of the sporting events in which Vietnam will be competing.
Some Vietnamese teams have completed their registration and settled into the athletes’ village. The remainder will fly to Indonesia over the next few days.
The Vietnamese sporting delegation at the event comprises 523 members, including 352 athletes and 81 coaches. The athletes will compete in 32 out of 40 events, and the country targets a haul of at least three gold medals this year.
Further, the General Department of Sports and Physical Training coordinated with the Vietnam Recreational eSport Association in sending 22 eSport members to attend a performance contest following the proposal of the Olympic Council of Asia.
