Vietnam outplay Bundesliga Top 3 in friendly ahead FIFA Women’s World Cup

VOV.VN - The Vietnam National Women’s football team beat Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 in a friendly game on June 10 evening during a training camp ahead of their 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup campaign.

Coach Mai Duc Chung sent in his best players at the start of the game who quickly transformed their coach’s attacking tactics into actions.

Bich Thuy early opened the scoring for Vietnam from a cross by striker Huynh Nhu.

Chung’s players continued to flex their muscles by carving out several scoring chances in the first half, but they failed.

Several minutes into the second half, Hai Yen escaped her opponents’ mark and cushioned the ball over the goalkeeper’s head, extending Vietnam’s lead.

A few minutes later, the Bundesliga top 3 team earned a goal to narrow the gap. However, they could not hold the visiting team to a 2-2 draw in the end.

This is the Vietnamese team’s first win during their training camp in Germany.

They are scheduled to play two German teams and a Polish team before flying to New Zealand to play another friendly game and then take part in the global football tournament.

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup will jointly be hosted by Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20.

Vietnam will play in Group E alongside defending champions USA (on July 22), Portugal (on July 27), and the Netherlands (on August 1).
