Vietnam narrowly lose to U22 Uzbekistan, coach highlights areas for improvement
VOV.VN - U22 Vietnam suffered a narrow 0-1 defeat to U22 Uzbekistan in the CFA Team China-Panda Cup 2025 international football tournament, held in Chengdu, China's Sichuan province on November 15.
The Vietnamese side conceded an early goal in the fourth minute when Khamidov made a silent run down the left flank and finished with a diagonal strike to score for Uzbekistan. The Central Asian team created additional chances to extend their lead but failed to convert them.
U22 Vietnam had opportunities to equalize in the second half, but none were successful, leaving the match at a 0-1 final score.
From this loss, coach Dinh Hong Vinh identified key lessons for his young players. Improving execution in final phases and maintaining pressing throughout the match were highlighted as priority areas. U22 Vietnam generated multiple chances in the second half but lacked precision and decisiveness to turn them into goals.
Coach Dinh Hong Vinh said, “The result is regrettable. The team created several good opportunities but fell slightly short in accuracy at critical moments. However, this is an international friendly, and our aim is to build the squad, assess players, and gain experience.”
Despite conceding early, U22 Vietnam were praised for maintaining discipline and team spirit throughout the match.
Looking ahead to their next opponent, U22 South Korea, Dinh Hong Vinh commented, “U22 South Korea is a high-quality team with strong movement and speed. We will review today’s match, consider each player’s condition, and make appropriate adjustments. The goal is to play more organized, maintain team structure, and improve execution in final phases. We will also continue providing playing opportunities for players who need more match experience.”
The U22 Vietnam vs U22 South Korea match is scheduled for 14:30 on November 18.
