Securing an early lead allowed the Vietnamese side to dominate the game, putting plenty of pressure on Laos.
Tien Linh doubled the score in the 17th minute, taking full advantage of a mistake in the Laos defence following a pass from Tan Tai.
At half-time and with the nation 2-0 up, Vietnam replaced Tan Tai with Trong Hoang for the second half.
It only took a few minutes following the restart for Do Hung Dung to put the national team 3-0 up with an effort in the 54th minute.

In one of Laos’ rare attacks during the game, Phetsivilay headed in a consolation goal to make the score 4-1.
Following several unsuccessful efforts at goal, Trong Hoang finally popped up in the 83rd minute with the team’s fifth goal.
In injury time, Quang Hai completed the scoring to give Vietnam a 6-1 win.
