Vietnam Highlands Trail joins UTMB® World Series
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s trail running community has received good news as the Vietnam Highlands Trail, one of the country’s major trail races, will officially join the UTMB® World Series from the 2027 season.
The UTMB® World Series is regarded as the world’s most prestigious global trail running circuit. Races are held across many countries, allowing runners to earn points for opportunities to compete in the UTMB® World Series Finals and higher-level events.
Joining the UTMB® World Series means the Vietnam Highlands Trail must comply with strict standards on race organisation, safety and professionalism. The race routes are designed to deliver the best possible experience for runners while also creating opportunities to earn qualifying points for the UTMB® World Series Finals.
The Vietnam Highlands Trail 2027 will feature five distances: 5km, 10km, 20km, 50km and 100km. The 100km race is considered particularly demanding, taking runners through the Bidoup primeval forest and to the summit of the iconic LangBiang peak.
According to organisers, the race routes are designed around four signature natural features, guiding runners through diverse landscapes ranging from calm lakes and pine forests to untouched old-growth forests and challenging mountain peaks. Terrain, climate and vegetation shift gradually with elevation, offering runners constantly changing scenery and experiences throughout the course.
The Vietnam Highlands Trail 2027 will take place from January 8-10 and is jointly organised by the Vietnam People’s Public Security Sports Association, the Lam Dong provincial People’s Committee and Nexus Sport Events.
