Vietnam begins one-year countdown to SEA Games 31
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Hanoi administration on November 21 jointly hosted a countdown ceremony to the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) and the 11th ASEAN Para Games in 2021 which are both one year away.
The event signaled the start of a series of activities that will take place in the buildup to the opening ceremony of both the SEA Games and Para Games which will get underway Vietnam next year.
At the launch ceremony, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien, who is also the head of the games’ organising board, said Vietnam vows to host the event successfully, leaving a good impression on participating countries as it did in 2003.
Organisers announced the logo, mascot, and slogan as well as the official website of the games.
The 31st SEA Games is scheduled to start on November 21, 2021, and will run to December 2, 2021, while the ASEAN Para Games is to take place between December 14, 2021, and December 21, 2021.
The opening ceremony of the 31st SEA Games is planned to take place on November 21 at the My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi.
The SEA Games, the largest sporting event in Southeast Asia, is held every two years, bringing together 10 ASEAN member states and Timor-Leste.
This is the second time Vietnam has hosted such games following the 2003 iteration.
