Vietnam beat Thailand to win Sepak Takraw World Cup 2025
VOV.VN - Four Vietnamese women clinched a gold medal at the ISTAF Sepak Takraw World Cup 2025 after a thrilling victory over their archrivals Thailand in India on March 21 evening.

In the Women Quadrant category, they earlier showcased an impressive performance in the semifinals against Malaysia, winning convincingly 2-0 (15-11, 15-5) to advance to the final against long-time rivals Thailand.
The final game was intense, with both teams battling for every point. Vietnam claimed the first set 15-12, but Thailand quickly equalized with a 15-12 win in the second set.
In the decisive set, Vietnam capitalized on key opportunities to edge out Thailand 15-13, securing the gold medal, their first-ever victory at the Sepak Takraw World Cup 2025.
Meanwhile, in the Men Quadrant, the Vietnamese men’s team had a remarkable journey, overcoming strong opponents to reach the final.
In their third group-stage game, they defeated Malaysia 2-0 (15-10, 15-5) to qualify for the knockout rounds.
In the quarterfinals, Vietnam faced Japan and, despite losing the first set (11-15), they made an impressive comeback to win 2-1 (11-15, 15-11, 15-10).
The semifinals saw another intense battle against hosts India. Although the match was tied after two sets (15-10, 16-17), Vietnam remained composed and secured a 15-10 victory in the final set to advance to the championship match.
However, in the final against Thailand, the Vietnamese men’s team couldn't maintain their peak performance and lost 0-2, earning the silver medal.
