Vietnam beat Malaysia 3-1 to top Asian Cup 2027 qualifying group
VOV.VN - The Vietnam national team secured a 3-1 win over Malaysia at Thien Truong Stadium in Ninh Binh province, northern Vietnam, in the Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers.
Vietnam made a dream start as Do Duy Manh rose to head home from a corner in the sixth minute. The early goal lifted the hosts, who created several chances. Nguyen Hoang Duc nearly doubled the lead in the 24th minute, but his long-range effort hit the crossbar.
After the break, Nguyen Xuan Son scored. In the 51st minute, he headed in from a cross by Do Hoang Hen. Seven minutes later, before Malaysia could recover from conceding the second goal, Nguyen Xuan Son struck again in the 58th minute, rising to power a header into the net from a cross by Truong Tien Anh.
Malaysia continued to press and created several clear chances, but their efforts only resulted in a consolation goal as Endrick converted a penalty to reduce the deficit to 1-3.
Vietnam won 3-1 to finish top of the group with a perfect 18-point record in the final round of the Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers.
