Vietnam athletics in first place finish at ASEAN University Games

VOV.VN -The Vietnamese athletics team has ranked in first place at the ongoing 19th ASEAN University Games after earning a total of 17 medals.

They earned 11 gold, 4 silver, and 2 bronze medals at the event.

During the final day of competition in the athletics on December 16, the Vietnamese team added three more gold medals thanks to the efforts of Nguyen Thi Oanh in the women’s 1,500 m event along with Quach Thi Lan Anh, Nguyen Thi Oanh, Vu Hanh Ly and Hoang Thu Minh Hanh who competed in the  4 × 400 m relay event and achieved a time of 3min 42.89 sec.

They also earned 1 silver and 1 bronze in the 1,500m and 100m events respectively.

When competing in the Vietnam traditional martial arts (Vovinam), the nation’s athletes were able to bag 2 golds, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals.

So far, the Vietnamese team has grabbed a total of 22 medals at the ASEAN University Games (13 golds, 5 silvers, and 4 bronzes).

Vietnamese athletes will continue to compete in the table-tennis, vovinam, and karate events on December 17.
