Vietnam among world's top 10 fastest-growing pickleball nations
VOV.VN - Vietnam ranks 10th among the world's fastest-growing pickleball markets, recording a 110% surge in DUPR-registered players over the past 12 months, according to the latest data from the Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) platform.
The figure highlights the rapid expansion of pickleball in Vietnam, where the sport has gained popularity through a growing community of players, new courts, and an increasing number of tournaments.
Vietnam is one of 10 Asian countries featured in the ranking, reflecting the region's emergence as a major driver of pickleball's global growth.
The Philippines tops the list with a remarkable 1,213% increase in DUPR-registered players, followed by Indonesia at 405%, China at 183%, and India at 182%.
Japan and Thailand share fifth place with 170% growth each, while the Republic of Korea (RoK) records 159%, Singapore 153%, and Malaysia 120%, just ahead of Vietnam.
According to DUPR, the rapid expansion of pickleball across Asia is creating a larger and more competitive player community, driving demand for tournaments, competitive matches, and reliable skill-rating systems.
As more players join the platform and participate in rated matches, the growing pool of data helps improve player assessments and matchmaking.
For Vietnam, the increase in participation presents opportunities to further professionalise the sport through tournament development, athlete training, coaching, refereeing, and player-rating systems.
The sport's growing popularity across Asia could also create more opportunities for Vietnamese players to compete internationally, participate in cross-border tournaments, and connect with the global pickleball community.
