Vietnam Airlines hosts ASEAN Pilots’ League 2016
National aircraft carrier Vietnam Airlines on November 16 kicked off the ASEAN Pilots’ League 2016 (APL) for pilots in the region.
The annual football tournament aims to enhance cooperation and experience among pilots of air carriers in the region. This year, there are 12 teams from six airlines, including Vietnam Airlines (three teams), Singapore Airlines (two teams), Malindo Air – Indonesia (two teams), Royal Brunei (one team), Cambodia Angkor Air (one team), and Air Asia – Malaysia (one team).
In addition, there are also two invited teams who are new faces at the event, the Ministry of Transport’s labor union and Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM). All the matches will take place at Hang Day Stadium in Hanoi with free entrance.
This is the second year Vietnam Airlines has hosted the tournament after the first time in 2011 in HCMC.
Since it establishment in 2009, the APL has been alternately hosted among countries in the region.
