Victory Cup Award underway in Vietnam

VOV.VN -The Victory Cup Award was officially launched in Hanoi on September 14.

According to the organizing board, the biggest national prize of this year’s awards will consist of 11 categories, including best male athlete, best female athlete, best young athlete, best coach, best foreign coach, best team, best counterpart, best favorite athlete, best athlete with disabilities, best sports moment, and the lifetime achievement award.

Long jumper Thu Thao, who was honored as Female Athlete of the Year at the Victory Cup Award 2017, will be nominated again in the same category.

Swimmer Huy Hoang, who won 1 gold, and 1 bronze medal at ASIAD 2018, and football player Doan Van Hau, will be named among the 5 nominees for best young athlete.

The top five candidates for best male athlete are ASIAD 2018’s pencak silat winners Nguyen Van Tri and Tran Dinh Nam, swimmer Huy Hoang, silver medalist for karate at ASIAD 2018 Nguyen Minh Phung, and football player Nguyen Quang Hai.

The top 6 candidates for the best team awards are the U23 team, the Olympic football team, Sanest Khanh Hoa volleyball team, Thai Son Nam futsal team, Hanoi FC, and Can Tho Catfish.

Vietnamese fans can vote for their favorite athletes on the website http://cupchienthang.vn or via the 7069 switchboard.

The awards ceremony will be held in January 2019 and broadcast live on VTVCab sports channels.

The total prize money for the Victory Cup Award is VND330 million.
