VFF President appointed to FIFA Men’s National Teams Competitions Committee
VOV.VN - President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan makes history as the first Vietnamese football official appointed to the FIFA Men’s National Teams Competitions Committee for the 2025-2029 term, taking a key role in shaping men’s national team tournaments globally.

The appointment was officially confirmed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) through a document signed by FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström.
The Men’s National Teams Competitions Committee is one of FIFA’s most strategic and influential bodies, responsible for shaping and overseeing national team tournaments worldwide, including the World Cup and continental championships.
Tuan currently serves as Chairman of the AFC Competition Committee for the 2023–2027 term, a member of the Organising Committee for the Asian Cup 2023-2027, Chairman of the Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) Competition Committee for the 2022-2026 term, and a member of the AFF Finance Committee.
He was also appointed by the AFC as the football manager for both the Incheon 2014 ASIAD and the Hangzhou 2023 ASIAD and serves on the Executive Committee for the Asian Cup 2024 finals in Qatar.
This appointment marks the first time in history that a Vietnamese football official has been entrusted by FIFA with a role on the Men’s National Teams Competitions Committee-a position that carries direct influence over the organisation of the World Cup and continental tournaments.
It also reflects the growing stature of Vietnamese football in the international arena and recognises Tran Quoc Tuan’s leadership and credibility, as he continues to elevate the profile of the VFF and bring Vietnamese football closer to the global football governance centre.
In addition, Vietnam has two other representatives serving on FIFA’s specialised bodies: VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu, who was appointed to the FIFA Medical Committee, and VFF Deputy General Secretary Nguyen Thanh Ha, who was selected to join the FIFA Women’s Football Committee.
