Unseeded Vu Thi Trang pulls off another shocker at Korea Masters
VOV.VN - Vietnamese veteran Vu Thi Trang extended her surprise run at the Korea Masters on August 6, stunning eighth seed Anmol Kharb of India to reach the quarterfinals.
Trang’s victory followed a grueling three-set opening round win against Chinese Taipei's Wang Pei Yu. Facing Kharba, 19-year-old ranked 45th globally, the 34-year-old world No. 92 defied the odds with tactical poise and sharp court movement.
In the opening game, Trang trailed 16-20 before saving four consecutive game points in a four-point scoring run, taking the set 23-21.
After losing the second set 15-21, the Vietnamese player pushed through physical fatigue in the deciding third set. She surged ahead with an 11-point scoring streak to take an 18-9 lead, holding off a late rally from Kharb to close out the set 21-18 and seal the 2-1 match victory.
Trang will face fourth seed Han Qian Xi of China in the quarterfinals on August 7.
