U20 team gather ahead of AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualification
VOV.VN - The national U20 women’s football team will hold their third training this year from May 2 to June 8 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center in Hanoi to prepare for AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers.
Vietnam have been drawn in Group A alongside Australia, Iran, and Lebanon.
Captain Le Thi Bao Tram noted that the team’s next opponents in the Asian qualifiers are all strong. She recalled that she had previously played matches against some of the team’s upcoming opponents at U16 and U18 levels, including the team’s 2-0 loss to Australia in August 2022.
However, in the upcoming qualifiers the whole team will try to play well over all three group-stage matches to achieve the best results possible, she said
The second qualifiers of the 2024 AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup are scheduled to take place at Viet Tri Stadium in Phu Tho province between June 3 and June 11.
Eight teams have been divided into two groups and they will compete in a round-robin format. The top two teams in each group along with the top three team from the previous season - Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea - and the hosts Uzbekistan will take part in the final round next year.
