U18 team head to Japan for training camp

VOV.VN -Vietnam’s national U18 football team and their coach Nguyen Anh Tuan jetted off to Japan on July 15 to participate in a training camp in preparation for the AFF U18 Championship and AFC U-19 Championship.

Ahead of the team’s departure, coach Anh Tuan left out a number of players from the official squad list, including a number of footballers who are currently suffering from injuries or are in poor form. Those left out of the squad include goalkeeper Nguyen Nhat Nguyen, Phan Tuan Tai, Nguyen Nhi Khang, and Luong Duy Cuong.

There were also a number of new additions to the team with five players being called up following their strong performances in the Vietnamese National U17 Football Championship. They include Nguyen Huu Tiep, Nguyen Ba Duong, Nguyen Ngoc Tu, Vo Nguyen Hoang, and Trinh Quang Truong.

As planned, the U18 team are to play three friendly matches during the course of their 11-day training camp. This includes fixtures against student teams from Kanagawa University on July 17, Sanno University on July 21, and Nihon Kougakuin University on July 24.

The squad will then return to Vietnam on July 26 to make their final preparations for the upcoming AFF U18 Championship 2019, which is due to transpire in Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong province from August 6-19.
