U17 Vietnam rout Macau 4-0, set up decisive qualifier against Malaysia
VOV.VN - U17 Vietnam cruised to a 4-0 win over U17 Macau (China) on November 28 in their fourth match of Group C in the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers held at the PVF training center in northern Hung Yen province.
With Malaysia having beaten Singapore earlier in the round, Vietnam needed to preserve its winning streak to regain the top spot. The hosts controlled the match from the outset and opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Trieu Dinh Vy seized on a poor clearance by a Macau defender and finished with a low, angled shot.
Vietnam doubled the lead in the 21st minute as Tran Manh Quan reacted quickest to a scrambled ball in the box and scored from close range.
Tran Ngoc Son extended the margin to 3-0 in the 33rd minute with a slick one-two build-up, and in the 37th minute Truong Nguyen Duy Khang rose to meet a left-side corner from Dao Quy Vuong to head home, making it 4-0.
That scoreline stood to full time. In the second half, coach Cristiano Roland made multiple substitutions and tactical tweaks aimed at preserving key players’ fitness ahead of the decisive final fixture.
The result leaves U17 Vietnam top of Group C with 12 points from four matches and a goal difference of +26, ahead of Malaysia on +20. A draw against Malaysia in the final round will be enough for Vietnam to secure qualification for next year’s AFC U17 Asian Cup.
U17 Vietnam will meet Malaysia in the last Group C match on November 30 at the PVF training center in Hung Yen.
