U17 team to play friendlies against Oman ahead of AFC U17 Asian Cup

VOV.VN - The national U17 football team will play against Oman in two friendly matches in March as part of their warm up ahead of the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup’s finals.

Vietnam’s U17 team will undergo a training camp in Oman from March 23 to 29, during which they will play two friendly matches against Oman’s U17 team before departing for Saudi Arabia for the final round of the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup on April 3.

Oman’s U17 squad previously won the Asian championship in 1996 and 2000 and finished fourth at the U17 World Cup in 1995. Facing a strong opponent will provide valuable experience for young Vietnamese players, helping them sharpen their skills and prepare for the continental tournament.

Vietnam has been drawn into a tough group alongside four-time Asian champions Japan, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the 2025 AFC U17 Asian Cup.

The tournament is set to take place from April 3 to 20 in Saudi Arabia, featuring 16 teams divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals and secure a spot at the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar.
