U16 team beat Laos at ASEAN event

The Vietnam national U16 team came from behind to defeat Laos 2-1 in the international friendly tournament ASEAN 2018 held in Miyazaki, Japan on March 8.

Laos made a good start with the goal of striker Chony Wenpaserth in the 16th minute.

Vietnam launched counter attacks but they failed to earn any goals in the first half.

Early in the second half, Vietnam pressed on and levelled the score to 1-1. Receiving a pass from the right wing of Minh Dan, Quoc Hoang headed the ball past the goal keeper of Laos.

In the 51st minute, Trung Hau raised the score to 2-1 for the Vietnamese side.

In the remainder of the game, Vietnam changed tactics and players but no more goals were scored.

The event attracted the participation of 12 teams. Vietnam are in Group D with Laos and Miyazaki.

The teams will compete in a round robin format to choose the best team in each group to reach to the semi-finals. Vietnam will next face Miyazaki on March 9.
