Two VN players test positive ahead of Japan clash

VOV.VN - Two footballers and a doctor of the national football team have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus ahead of the side’s upcoming World Cup qualifier against Japan on March 29, according to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF).

The results of initial tests were announced before the team’s training session on March 28 that could cause plenty of difficulties for head coach Park Hang-seo.

Elsewhere, language assistant Le Huy Khoa is expected to join the national team for the coming World Cup qualifying match after he tested negative on March 27.

According to the Japan Football Association (JFA), each national team must also comply with the organisers' "bubble rules", accordingly all of their activities take place behind closed doors and are in line with relevant COVID-19 pandemic prevention rules.

The Vietnamese team are scheduled to hold their final training session at the Saitama Stadium at 6p.m. on March 28 before playing Japan in the final round of Asian qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup at 7:35 p.m. on March 29 (Tokyo time).
