Two Vietnamese karatekas to compete in world championships qualifiers

VOV.VN - Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly and Nguyen Thi Thu will represent the country in the women’s 61kg and 50kg categories, respectively to compete in the world championships qualification tournament, slated for October 17 to 19 in France.

They are set to depart for France on October 14 to prepare for the event. Top athletes from the qualification tournament will advance to the final round in Egypt this November. Each event in the finals will feature 36 athletes worldwide, including 24 who have already earned direct qualification, according to the World Karate Federation.

The tournament in France will therefore determine the remaining 12 slots for each weight class.

Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly is among the standout members of the Vietnamese karate team, having won gold at the 2022 World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships and another at the 2025 Asian Youth Karate Championships.
