Tuan, Thao retain mixed double title at Hanoi Challenge

The duo, who were seeded No 4, came from behind to beat No 2 Evgenij Dremin and Evgenia Dimova of Russia 20-22, 24-22, 21-15 in a 61-minute final at Tay Ho Gymnasium.

It was the only title won by the host at the annual tournament. Other athletes including men’s singles No 2 seed Nguyen Tien Minh and No 5 Vu Thi Trang in the women’s singles class, who were eliminated early in the quarter-finals.

The women’s singles title went to Dinar Dyah Ayustine of Indonesia, who defeated Asuka Takahashi of Japan 13-21, 21-16, 21-14.

Japanese Kento Momota, No 1 seed, won 21-9, 21-15 over Malaysian Goh Giap Chin to take the men’s crown.

Meneepong Jongjit and Nanthakarn Yordphaisong of Thailand won the men’s doubles and Baek Hana and Lee Yu Rim of the Republic of Korea triumphed in the women’s doubles.
