Tu qualifies for Rio Olympics

Van Ngoc Tu won the 19th Olympic berth for Vietnam after the International Judo Federation announced its latest rankings May 31.

Following the ranking, Tu is athlete No. 44 in the women’s 48kg class, meaning that she will compete in the Rio Games this summer.

It is the second time that Tu has qualified for the biggest global sporting event.

In her debut in 2012 in London, Tu was disqualified in the first round.

Before her, 18 athletes have found their slots in badminton, rowing, swimming, and shooting, apart from fencing, athletics, gymnastics, wrestling and weightlifting.
