Troussier names 31 players in U22 squad ahead of SEA Games

VOV.VN - Head coach Philippe Troussier named a squad of 31 players for the Vietnam U22 national team on April 13 for the upcoming 32nd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 32).

The squad consists of a total of four goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 11 midfielders, and six strikers, with the group set to participate in a training course in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province from April 16.

This will be the only gathering of Vietnam’s U22s ahead of SEA Games 32 which will take place in May in Cambodia.

The latest squad sees the presence of familiar faces who competed at the Doha Cup in Qatar last month, including goalie Quan Van Chuan, defenders Vu Tien Long and Phan Tuan Tai, midfielders Nguyen Duc Viet and Khuat Van Khang, and striker Nguyen Quoc Viet.

Furthermore, the French coach has included new faces such as goalkeeper Cao Van Binh, defender Ho Van Cuong, midfielder Nguyen Duc Phu, Dinh Xuan Tien, and striker Bui Vi Hao.

A final list of 20 players will be announced before they travel to Cambodia for SEA Games 32.

Vietnam have been drawn in Group B with Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Laos. Their first match will be against Laos on April 30. They will then face Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand on May 3, May 8, and May 11, respectively.
