Thuy Linh withdraws from China Masters due to injury

VOV.VN - Vietnam's top female badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh has withdrawn from the ongoing China Masters due to an injury she sustained during her first-round match against Yeo Jia Min of Singapore.

Without Indonesian expert Hariawan Hong to accompany her, Linh had to make tactical adjustments on her own. Meanwhile, Yeo Jia Min received close guidance from her coach.

In the first game on July 19, despite repeatedly falling behind, Vietnam’s top badminton player showed resilience, fighting back to level the score at 15–15 and 18–18. She even briefly took the lead at 19–18 against her Singaporean rival before narrowly losing 19–21.

In the second game, the Vietnamese player decided to give up due to injury. The extent of her injury is currently unknown. Prior to competing at the China Masters, Linh finished as runner-up in the women’s singles final of the Vietnam Open.

The tight competition schedule may have led to physical overload for Vietnam’s top female player.
