Thuy Linh ends BWF World Championships campaign in Round of 16

VOV.VN - Vietnamese shuttler Nguyen Thuy Linh’s run at the 2025 BWF World Championships came to an end after a straight-sets loss to Chinese star Chen Yu Fei in the Round of 16 on August 28.

Facing one of the tournament’s top contenders and a former world No. 2, Vietnam’s No. 1 women's singles player started confidently and managed to keep pace early in the first set. However, Chen gradually took control, winning the set 21-10.

The second set saw Chen continue her dominance with powerful and precise shots, eventually sealing the match with a 21-9 victory. The contest lasted just 32 minutes.

Thuy Trang was the last Vietnamese representative in the tournament and the only one to reach the third round. Other Vietnamese players, including women’s singles player Vu Thi Trang, and men’s doubles pairs Dinh Hoang/Dinh Manh, Le Duc Phat/Nguyen Hai Dang, all exited in earlier rounds.

Despite the loss, Thuy Linh’s performance marks a commendable effort and highlights her status as Vietnam’s top badminton talent on the world stage.
