Thuy Linh misses championship title at Thailand International Challenge
VOV.VN - Vietnamese badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh lost out 2-0 to her Japanese opponent Asuka Takahashi in the final match of Thailand International Challenge 2023 on March 12.
At this tournament, Thuy Linh (world No.49) was the highest ranked player in the women’s singles, and therefore she was given high hopes.
Indeed, to reach the final match, the Vietnamese girl defeated several strong opponents, including Indonesia Stephanie Widjaja, and Thailand’s Pitchamon Opatniputh.
In the world rankings, Takahashi who was Linh’s opponent in the final match, was only ranked 94th, 45 places behind the Vietnamese girl.
However, the Japanese girl flexed her muscle, defeating her Vietnamese opponent 2-0 (21-17 and 21-17) and securing the championship title.
Thailand International Challenge 2023 was a big test for Thuy Linh before she shows her strength at upcoming Challenge Vietnam 2023.
