Thuy Linh leaps up world rankings

VOV.VN - Vietnam’s top female badminton player Nguyen Thuy Linh has leaped up three places to reach 23rd position in the women's singles category, according to the latest rankings released by the Badminton World Federation (BWF).

This rise can be attributed to her strong performance at the 2023 US Open and the Canada Open when she reached the quarterfinals in both tournaments.

Since the beginning of 2023, the leading Vietnamese badminton player has jumped a total of 28 spots, rising from 51st position to 23d place.

Currently, Thuy Linh holds the highest position among Vietnamese badminton players.

Following those tournaments, Linh returned to Vietnam to continue her training. The star aims to compete for an official spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics in France. Previously Linh earned a direct qualification to participate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in Japan.

In late August, the Vietnamese player is scheduled to fly to Denmark to attend BWF World Championships 2023 after moving to China to compete at ASIAD 19.
