The Cong Viettel youth team heads to Burundi for international friendlies
VOV.VN - The youth squad of The Cong Viettel FC is joining an international training tour in Burundi, East Africa, from June 23 to July 1.
As part of the program, the young Vietnamese players will play two friendly matches, facing Aigle Noir CS at Makamba Peace Park Stadium on June 28, followed by a match against Burundi’s U23 national team at Gitega Stadium on June 29.
This rare trip offers a valuable opportunity for a Vietnamese football team to train and compete in Africa, providing international exposure and match experience.
Burundi’s senior national team currently ranks 140th in the FIFA world rankings, and the upcoming fixtures are expected to be meaningful tests for the young Vietnamese side.
While the youth squad is abroad, The Cong Viettel’s senior team will face Hanoi Police FC in the National Cup semi-finals on June 26. A win would see them advance to the final and remain in contention for a place in next season’s continental tournament.
