Thanh Thuy named among top 20 women’s volleyball players of 2025

VOV.VN - The popular volleyball website Volleybox has ranked Vietnamese outside hitter Tran Thi Thanh Thuy 14th among the world’s top 20 women volleyball players for 2025.

In Asia, she secured second place, trailing only China’s Wu Mengjie. Globally, she ranked fourth specifically for the outside hitter position, while her teammate Vi Thi Nhu Quynh was placed 29th worldwide.

Volleybox also included several other Vietnamese players in its Top 100 list for 2025. Libero Nguyen Khang Dang was ranked 27th overall and named the best libero in Asia, standing third globally behind Italy’s Monica De Gennaro and Brazil’s Leticia Moura. Opposite spiker Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen topped the Asian rankings for her position and held the 16th spot in the world, with Vi Thi Nhu Quynh placed 86th.

The rise of Vietnamese players in global rankings demonstrates their strong performances in recent tournaments.

Notably, on August 10, Vietnam made history by defeating Thailand 3-2 in a thrilling five-set match during the second leg of the 2025 Southeast Asia Women’s Volleyball Championship (SEA V.League), clinching their first-ever title in the competition.

Looking ahead, Vietnam is determined to overcome Thailand once again to win gold at the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games this December.
