Thanh Hoa University triumphs at student football tournament Thaco Cup 2025
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s Thanh Hoa University of Culture, Sports and Tourism lifted the trophy at the international student football tournament Thaco Cup 2025 after recording a 2-1 victory over the National University of Laos in the final match held in Ho Chi Minh City on March 30.
Thanh Hoa University took the lead in the 19th minute with a Lao defender’s own goal before extending their lead 18 minutes later with a close-range shot by a midfielder. The visitors scored a goal also in the first half, and none of the teams struck any goals in the second half.
As champions, Thanh Hoa University walked away with a trophy and a bonus of US$6,000.
In the third-placed match, Life University of Cambodia defeated Malaysian University 4-2 in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 draw in the 90-minute game.
The second and third-placed team Life University of Cambodia and Malaysian University received cash prizes of US$4,000 and US$2,000, respectively.
Taking place from March 22 to 30, Thaco Cup 2025 featured six university teams, including four from Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, and Malaysia, as well as two from Vietnam.
