Vietnamese student football tournament in Laos marks Youth Union’s 94th anniversary
VOV.VN - The Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union at the National University of Laos launched the annual Vietnamese student football tournament in Vientiane on March 15 to celebrate the 94th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 – March 26, 2025).

In his opening speech, Nguyen Thanh Huy, Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, emphasized that the tournament is a regular event aimed at promoting physical training and sports activities among Vietnamese students studying at the National University of Laos.
He noted that beyond being a healthy and engaging competition, the tournament helps improve students' well-being while fostering key sporting values such as solidarity, honesty, and sportsmanship, qualities that the younger generation should always strive for.
Huy highlighted that organizing this football event during Youth Month not only promotes athletic spirit but also provides a platform for Youth Union members to demonstrate their sense of responsibility, dedication, and commitment to upholding the proud traditions of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
With thorough preparation and close coordination between the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Vietnamese student association at the National University of Laos, Huy expressed confidence that this year’s tournament will once again offer a meaningful and enjoyable platform for young people to connect, engage in healthy recreation, and showcase the image of a dynamic, confident, and capable young generation.
This year’s tournament features five teams and follows a round-robin format. The two teams with the highest points will compete for the championship title.
The final match, as well as the closing and award ceremony, is scheduled to take place on March 26, marking the anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
