Striker Van Toan signs for K-League 2 side Seoul E-Land FC

VOV.VN - K-League 2 side Seoul E-Land FC have signed a new contract with leading Vietnamese forward Nguyen Van Toan, with the local striker set to play for the Korean side in the 2023 season, Seoul E-Land announced on January 4.

The Hai Duong - born player earlier ended his contract with Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) FC and received many offers from domestic teams, although his ambition was always to play abroad.

The Korean team were originally founded in 2014 and play in the K-League 2. Their home ground is Mokdong which has a capacity of accommodating more than 15,000 fans. They have recently appointed Park Choong-kyun as head coach, who formerly managed Hanoi FC in the V. League 1 for the 2021 season.

Toan, 27, has played in the domestic top flight since making his debut in the 2015 season.

He has recorded plenty of notable achievements in his career so far, finishing second in the AFC U23 Championship 2018, winning the AFF Cup 2018, reaching the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup in 2019, and making it to the final qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup.

He is currently playing for the national team at the AFF Cup 2022 which will last through to January 16.

Seoul E-Land can be considered as a suitable choice for Toan as opposed to a team in the K-League 1, and the striker is expected to have plenty of opportunities to showcase his ability in the new club.

Two close friends of Toan at HAGL FC, including Nguyen Cong Phuong and Luong Xuan Truong, have spent time playing in the K-League 1, but both were unsuccessful.

In addition to Toan, several players of HAGL FC are also preparing to bid farewell to the team during the 2023 season. Striker Nguyen Cong Phuong will play for J-League 1 Football Club Yokohama, while Nguyen Phong Hong Duy and Vu Van Thanh are close to joining Nam Dinh FC, and Luong Xuan Truong has recently signed a contract with Hai Phong FC.
