Striker Cong Phuong becomes brand ambassador for J1 League

VOV.VN - Vietnamese striker Nguyen Cong Phuong has become the brand ambassador for the J1 League in Vietnam for the 2025 season.

Accordingly, Phuong will participate in J1 League promotional activities in Vietnam after the country acquired the rights to broadcast matches from the top tier of Japanese football over three seasons.

Previously, the former Yokohama FC player had spent many years playing in Japan.

The Nghe An-born player played for Mito Hollyhock FC in 2016 before later joining Yokohama FC. After that, he ended his contract with the Japanese side after two years of playing for the J2 League club from December 2022, to September 2024.

During his stay in Japan, the 29-year-old player failed to make an impact on the club, being benched for the vast majority of games. During the two seasons, Cong Phuong was only selected to play a total of 85 minutes, during which he failed to register a single goal or assist, although he did receive one yellow.

He is now playing for Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc FC inthe V.League 2.
