Standout performance helps Vietnam up in FIVB rankings
VOV.VN - The latest update to the women’s volleyball world rankings has seen Vietnam climb one notch to 32nd position, representing their highest position so far, thanks to their standout performance in 2024.
According to the FIVB (International Volleyball Federation)’s global rankings, Vietnam secured 112.73 points and peaked at 32nd in the world out of a total of 67 countries and territories worldwide.
This marks their highest ever position in the global rankings, that put them at number five in Asia, after mainland China, Japan, Thailand, and Kazakhstan.
In Southeast Asia, Vietnam came second behind Thailand that ranked 13th globally.
Italy topped the world rankings, followed by the likes of Brazil, the United States, Turkey, and China making up the rest of the top 5.
For the first time in history, Vietnam successfully qualified for the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship as the fourth-best team at the Asian championships, a key factor that helped the women’s team accumulate more points in the FIVB rankings.
The team coached by Nguyen Tuan Kiet will gather together in April to prepare for two important tournaments this year - including the FIVB Women's World Championship 2025 and the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Women’s Champions League.
