Sports fans gain more opportunities to watch SEA Games 33 live

VOV.VN - Vietnamese sports fans will have more options to watch live competitions of the coming 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33), as two domestic media outlets have announced they jointly own and will broadcast the event’s content.

The Vietnam Multimedia Corporation (VTC) and Vinh Long Radio and Television Newspaper confirmed that they will jointly hold full media rights for SEA Games 33 to be held in Thailand next month.

Under the agreement, both media agencies will exploit the rights across the entire media ecosystem, including television, OTT (Over-The-Top) platforms, social media, and other channels in Vietnam.

Earlier, three other media units - Vietnam Television (VTV), Ho Chi Minh City Radio and Television (HTV) and FPT Play – had acquired the broadcasting rights for SEA Games 33.

Hosts Thailand required each broadcaster wishing to air the event to pay a participation fee of US$20,000, along with an additional US$5,000 technical fee to receive “clean” signals for live coverage. Broadcasters may also need to pay extra technical fees depending on their specific requirements and the access rights granted.

Thailand has just announced that it will produce live signals for a wide range of sports, including athletics, aquatic sports (swimming, diving), badminton, basketball, football, futsal, gymnastics, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, beach volleyball, weightlifting, indoor hockey, cycling, skating, fencing, boxing, jujitsu, muay, pencak silat, taekwondo, wrestling, sepak takraw, sailing, floorball, karate, kickboxing, billiards & snooker, teqball, electronic sports (E-sports) and rugby.
