VOV.VN - The Vietnam Sports Economy Summit 2026 will take place in Hanoi on on March 27, and is expected to attract representatives from state management agencies, businesses, investors, sponsors, as well as domestic and international experts and researchers, as sport plays an increasingly important role in socio-economic development.
The event is to mark the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of Vietnam’s sports sector and will be a key highlight within a broader series of sector-wide activities.
The forum will be held at Melia Hanoi Hotel under the direction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and co-organised by the Sports Authority of Vietnam, the Vietnam Olympic Committee and Vietcontent. About 300 delegates from fields ranging from public administration to sports business, sponsorship and investment are expected to attend.
Building on editions held in 2023 and 2024, the forum continues to serve as an open dialogue platform connecting relevant parties across the sports ecosystem.
Its annual organization demonstrates efforts to develop the sports economy and indicates a long-term process of shaping awareness and developing a market for a sector with huge potential in Vietnam.
Its annual organization shows efforts to develop the sports economy and indicates a gradual process of building awareness and developing a market for a sector with huge potential in Vietnam.
This year’s programme will focus on key questions facing the sector, including whether Vietnam can build a genuine sports economy, how large the market is, what will serve as its main drivers, whether media rights can become a major revenue source, whether sport can act as a new driver for tourism and local economies, and whether a national strategy for the sports economy is needed.
The event includes three presentations and three in-depth discussion sessions covering topics such as the scale of the global sports industry, business models, development strategies in Vietnam, investment attraction and international experience. Foundational factors including policy, legal frameworks, infrastructure, professional league models and the broader business ecosystem will also be analysed. The forum is also set to release the Vietnam Sports Economy Report 2026, expected to provide a comprehensive and updated overview of the sector.
Alongside the sports sector, discussions at the forum are linked to broader economic considerations. If developed in the right direction, the sports economy could generate spillover effects across areas such as media, tourism, services, event organisation, commerce and employment. In that context, sport is seen as physical activity and high-performance competition, while also emerging as an economic sector capable of contributing to overall growth.
With an open and multi-dimensional orientation, the Vietnam Sports Economy Summit 2026 is to continue serving as a bridge between policy, the market and investment flows, helping shape the future of Vietnam’s sports economy and opening new opportunities for development in the coming period.
