Six more Vietnamese footballers infected with COVID-19 in Cambodia
VOV.VN - Six more players of the Vietnamese U23 football team who are playing at the 2022 AFF U23 Championship in Cambodia have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-02 virus.
Rapid test results on February 20 showed an additional five players and an assistant to the coaching team had been exposed to the virus, doctors of the team said.
Among the newly detected infections, three players joined the national lineup in their 7-0 win over Singapore in their opening game on February 19.
Two other players came into close contact with four other players who had been confirmed as F0 cases.
They will all undergo PCR testing to confirm the results on February 21, said a doctor of the team.
The Vietnamese team now have a total of nine players and two assistants placed in quarantine due to virus infection. Coach Dinh The Nam has 18 players on hand for the coming match against Thailand in the two days’ time.
Notably, his hopeful – Pham Ba Quyen – will not be able to play in the coming clash due to his injury.
The Vietnam vs Thailand match is scheduled to take place at 19.00 on February 22 at Prince Stadium in Phnom Penh capital. A draw would send U23 Vietnam into the semi-finals.
