Going into the tie as the underdog, Liem showed his confidence and put on a valiant display, finally holding Vladislav Artemiev to a draw after 39 moves.
The two prodigies are now set to face off again in an away match, which is scheduled to take place tonight. In the match up, Vladislav Artemiev will enjoy the advantage of holding the white pawn.
If Liem is able to qualify for the fourth round of the competition, he will receive a cash prize of US$25,000.
