Portuguese club extends contract of Vietnamese striker
VOV.VN - Vietnam national women’s team captain Huynh Nhu officially extended her contract with Portuguese club Länk FC for another one-year.
Details of the deal have not been revealed, although it is reported that the Vietnamese player's salary will be increased compared to her current EUR1,500, equivalent to VND39 million, per month.
The Tra Vinh-born footballer joined the Portuguese club back in August, 2022. She is now the second top scorer of the team with seven goals in all domestic competitions.
Winner of Vietnam's female Golden Ball 2022, Huynh Nhu has successfully concluded the 2022 to 2023 season with Länk FC in Portugal. With 22 appearances, seven goals, and two assists to her name, she played a crucial role in helping Länk FC finish seventh in the Portuguese National Championship.
As a result of her contributions, the 31-year-old player has been offered a contract extension by the club ahead of the upcoming season.
The local forward is most notable for becoming the first Vietnamese female professional to play abroad. She is one of the most prominent players in Vietnamese women's football after winning the Golden Ball award on four occasions and bagging gold medals at the SEA Games in 2017, 2019, and 2022, along with the AFF Cup 2019 championship.
Furthermore, she is also the top scorer in the history of the Vietnamese women's football team with 59 goals for the national side.
The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup marked the first time that the Vietnamese national women’s football team, including captain Huynh Nhu, had progressed to the finals of the prestigious international tournament.
