PM Phuc congratulates Vietnamese women’s team
Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc sent a message of congratulations to the Vietnamese female football team after they beat Thailand 3-2 in their first match of Group C at the Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018 in Indonesia on August 19. With the win, the team has qualified for the knock-out stages.
The PM praised the strength and determination of the Vietnamese women as well as the good guidance of head coach Mai Duc Chung.
PM Phuc also hoped the team will continue to achieve good results in ASIAD.
Phuc’s encouragement will be a driving force for their next match against Japan on August 21.
With this result, the Vietnam Football Federation awarded the team VND400 million (US$17,400).
Meanwhile, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism also awarded the Vietnam Olympic team VND200 million (US$8,700) after they beat Japan 1-0 in their last qualifying match to top Group D at ASIAD the same day.
