Players depart for international women volleyball indoor tournament
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese indoor volleyball team on July 25 departed for France that is scheduled to host the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Volleyball Women's Challenger Cup from July 27 to 30.
Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said the players who previously won the 2023 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Challenge Cup would make up the team to vie for world championship title.
At the FIVB Challenger Cup, eight qualified teams play in a knockout stage format, with the winners competing in the semi-final round.
This year the tournament will see five new comers - Kenya, Mexico, Sweden, Ukraine, and Vietnam. Vietnam will face hosts France at 10 p.m. on July 27 (Vietnam time).
According to the world rankings, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team now finish 47th in the world, while hosts France are placed at 21st. The upcoming encounter will certainly prove to be a difficult challenge for the team coached by Nguyen Tuan Kiet.
