Phan Phuc Thinh claims men's singles title at 2025 Botswana International
VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh-born player Phan Phuc Thinh has captured the men’s singles championship at the 2025 Botswana International, defeating India’s eighth-seeded Tanmoy Bikash Boruah in a thrilling three-game final.
Thinh, the only Vietnamese representative in the men’s singles, dominated the first game with a 21–13 win, but lost momentum in the second, allowing Boruah to take it 21–9. In a nail-biting third game, Thinh pulled ahead at the decisive moments to secure a 21–19 victory and clinch the championship 2–1 overall.
Prior to competing in Botswana, Thinh had played in a tournament in Zambia, where he only made it to the men’s singles quarterfinals.
Since the beginning of 2025, the Vietnamese player has taken part in several international tournaments, however, this is his first championship title of the year. Following in the footsteps of other players such as Nguyen Tien Minh and Nguyen Hai Dang, Thinh has emerged as one of Vietnam’s most promising young talents, demonstrating significant technical growth recently.
