Park Hang-seo to hold farewell meeting with fans on February 2

As part of the event, 30 lucky fans will be chosen and given a range of memorabilia, including a badge of coach Park, an autographed ball, and many other attractive gifts.

Coach Park's contract with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) is due to expire on January 31, subsequently ending five successful years which saw the national team record plenty of impressive achievements.

A few days ago the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) published an article titled “Park Hang-seo: A lasting legacy” to honour the Korean coach after his magical five-year journey with the Vietnamese men’s national football team came to an end.

The AFC reviewed his time at the helm of the national team, noting that in his first tournament, the AFC U23 Championships 2018, coach Park was able to guide the Golden Star Warriors to their first final.

Vietnam later went on to lift the AFF Cup 2018, making the Korean tactician only the second man after Portuguese manager Henrique Calisto to steer Vietnam to a title win.

The Vietnamese team continued their strong performances under coach Park as they reached the quarterfinals of the AFC Asian Cup 2019 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where they ultimately lost 1-0 to Japan.

Furthermore, coach Park's team made their first appearance in the third Asian qualifying round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Although they ultimately did not qualify, they put in some good performances after defeating China 3-1 and recording a 1-1 draw with Japan.

“I have had 5 years full of joy, happiness and hardship alongside teams and fans. These memories will forever be cherished. Now that I’m no longer the head coach, I will still remain a supporter of Vietnam football. You will be in my heart for eternity. Thank you and goodbye,” coach Park wrote on his page.
