Over 300 players to compete in Hanoi int’l badminton tourney

As many as 305 badminton players from 16 countries are expected to compete in the Ciputra Hanoi-Yonex Sunrise Vietnam International Challenge 2017, the organisers said on March 10.

The annual event, which will be held from March 21-26 at Hanoi’s Cau Giay Gymnasium, will have five categories, namely men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles, with total prize of US$20,000.

Vietnam’s top badminton players Nguyen Tien Minh and Vu Thi Trang will participate in the tournament, along with regional athletes such as Khosit Phetpradab and Pornpawee Chochuwong from Thailand.

Bui Tuan Mich, Vice President of the Hanoi Badminton Federation and Head of the organising board, said that the event will provide an opportunity for athletes to sharpen their skills and experience, thus contributing to the development of badminton in Vietnam. It also aims to promote images of the country to international friends.
