Marking the largest international billiards tournament ever held in Vietnam, the event features some of the world’s top players, including reigning champion Johann Chua, Fedor Gorst, and Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, alongside Vietnam’s leading talents, Duong Quoc Hoang and Dinh Chan Kiet.

Notably, Chan Kiet is the only Vietnamese player to reach the Round of 16, marking a historic achievement for Vietnam in this international billiards tournament.

The championship immediately moved into the Round of 16 and quarterfinals, following earlier rounds that produced dramatic upsets. Defending champion Johann Chua was eliminated in the early stages, along with other top contenders Fedor Gorst and Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, highlighting the unpredictable and fiercely competitive nature of this year’s event.

Vietnam's hopeful Duong Quoc Hoang, was eliminated in the Round of 32 after a narrow loss to the Philippines’ Roberto Gomez. However, Chan Kiet emerged as the tournament’s surprise star, defying expectations to secure a place in the Top 16 and capturing the attention of both fans and competitors alike.

Beyond the thrilling matches, the Hanoi Open serves as a platform to demonstrate Vietnam’s capability in hosting world-class sporting events while promoting Hanoi as a vibrant and dynamic city to international audiences.
