Over 2,000 to join “Dalat Ultra Trail” international marathon contest

More than 2,000 athletes will compete at the second international marathon titled “Dalat Ultra Trail” slated from March 16 to 18 in Lac Duong District of Dalat City, where a 78-year-old French man participates as the oldest runner of the tournament.

According to the organizing committee, the competition features 70km, 42km, 21 km and 10 km runs for amateur and professional participants.

Participating runners are expected to conquer some famous destinations of Dalat City such as Golden Valley, Love Valley, Lang Biang Mountain and Bidoup Nui Ba National Park with breathtaking natural landscapes surrounded by hills, pine forests, lakes and waterfalls.

Vu Thi Hoai Thuong, director of the “Dalat Utra Trail” project, said the number of athletes participating in running competitions across the country has witnessed a strong pickup in recent years, but the tournaments are mainly held in the north and central regions.

Therefore, the organizer has come up with the idea of launching a marathon race in the south, especially in the hilly resort city of Dalat famous for its cool climate and familiar terrains with the goal to draw the attention of runners, Thuong added.

Organized by Lam Dong Province’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in conjunction with the Vietnam Motorcycle and Bicycle Association, Vietnam MTB Series and 123Go Company, the event also has received support from 30 partners and sponsors.

Saigon Times Group is the official media of this year’s marathon contest.
