Open tennis championship gets underway

One of the many highlights in this year’s tournament running October 8-16, is that it features some of the top open players in the ATP Challenger Rankings, including challengers Malek Jaziri (55th), Dudi Sela (70th), Jordan Thompson (95th).

Top local players Ly Hoang Nam and Nguyen Hoang Thien are entered in the completion. In addition, four amateur local players – Le Cong Tien, Nguyen Dac Tien, Hoang Thanh Trung and Trang Hoang Anh Khoa – entered the qualifying round on day one.

It’s going to be a fantastic week of tennis. With this being an Open tournament, there are junior players, college players, teaching professionals and even senior players competing in the same event, said the organizers at the opening.

Players will compete for prize money totalling US$50,000. Consolation events in all divisions will also be offered.
